TOS Systems manufactures the Distel line of inexpensive distance telemetry equipment for multi-channel distance measuring. The Distel line contain no moving parts, so has none of the reliability problems of scanning systems. Each source/detector pair is located close together, so does not suffer the shadowing problems of wide angle camera systems. The Distel-LED series uses infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) to avoid laser hazard and regulations problems. The Distel-LAS series uses laser diodes to provide better accuracy.

A typical use is to locate it to upside down over a conveyor belt to provide a height profile of objects travelling on the belt.

TOS can design custom monitors to provide various number of channels, distance ranges, mounting arrangements, etc.
